Start foam flush with the bottom edge of the hinge.
To calculate the length of the weather strip for a standard or French casement piano hinge, subtract 1-19/32 in. from the height of the frame. For example, if your frame is 40 in. tall, trim the foam to 38-13/32 in. (40.000 - 1.594 = 38.406).
To calculate the length of the weather strip for a clad radius casement piano hinge, add 3/8 in. to the length of the hinge.
To calculate the length of the weather strip for a wood radius casement piano hinge, add 3/32 in. to the length of the hinge.
