Find Parts for Component: Balances

Double-hung balances are determined by the unique specifications of the frame height and the sash weight. Contact Eagle Inside Sales for assistance in selecting the correct balance.

  • An upper or lower sash weighing 60 lb. or less requires at least one block-and-tackle balance clipped onto each jambliner.
  • An upper or lower sash weighing over 60 lb. and up to 90 lb. requires a spiral balance in each jambliner. (The #8 screw attaches the balance to the wood jamb.)
  • Any sash weighing over 90 lb. must be fixed, or stationary.

Eagle strongly recommends that you replace both jambliner assemblies to ensure symmetrical operation. At a minimum, you should replace the balances on both jambs at the same time.
