Slide-By Handing

An easy-to-learn shorthand describes the operation of slide-by windows, depending on the position of the venting sash(es) as viewed from the exterior of the window. "X" denotes the operable sash, and "O" the fixed.

In most cases, the parts for the XO and OX windows are the same. The Element uses a single OX slide-by window for the 2-sash example and emphasizes any differences based on handing.
